Christian Mentoring
There are various forms of mentoring someone. For those of the Christian faith, Christian mentoring can include helping someone find Jesus and bring Him into their life. Christian mentoring is just like every other type of mentoring except it encompasses the teachings of Christianity.
One way that you can use Christian mentoring is to organize a youth group. Youth groups are a wonderful way for young people to meet one another as well as learn about Christianity. Young people are one of the most vulnerable, especially today with the way they are targeted by the media with ads bombarding them with temptation to stray.
In a youth group, older people who can mentor younger people. Christian mentoring is more about a way of life rather than just reading the bible and reciting passages. In addition to teaching young people how to treat others, mentors can also help them understand their faith a bit more by taking them to different places where they can help others.
In addition to a youth group, Christian mentoring can also include helping someone understand their faith on a one on one basis. This can encompass both adults and young people. Adults can mentor other adults with and can be more effective in showing those new to the faith about Christianity.
There are many misconceptions about Christianity in society today. These stem from a variety of different sources. By understanding Christianity, you can help others who are just entering the faith or are confused when it comes to certain aspects of Christianity. This can work with older individuals as well as younger individuals.
You do not have to only mentor other Christians, either. Mentoring is needed in a number of different outlets. By showing those who you mentor your faith by example, you are, in a way, Christian mentoring. What better way of demonstrating your beliefs than by acting them out?
Teaching by example and helping others is one of the best ways to accomplish Christian mentoring. This can be something that is structured through an organization, or something that you accomplish on your own.
Think of people in your own area who are in need of guidance. This can be any type of guidance, not just spiritual but career, school, or even family help. There are programs like "Big Brother" and "Big Sister" that you can participate in to mentor young people in desperate need of guidance and behavior examples. You can enter any of these avenues and, by simply behaving like a Christian, accomplish Christian mentoring.
Christian mentoring has a number of different facets. Whether you choose to form a youth group for young people who need spiritual guidance, act as a counselor for those who have questions about the faith or simply be a mentor to anyone in need, you are acting as a true Christian. You do not have to preach to anyone or try to convert them. Simply by behaving as a good Christian, you can actually do more good than in any other manner for the faith.
